CULTURE TRANSFORMATION SUCCESS STORY

Background

Following strategic vision workshops in January 2020, Texas First established a multi-year strategic roadmap to enhance the employee experience. Our initial roadmap lacked specific DEI initiatives until world affairs brought DEI into focus. After the murder of George Floyd in May 2020, and the subsequent protests across the country, we considered what steps we needed to take to affirm our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

After listening to our employees, we decided that an intentional, ongoing DEI program would be our best choice, but we did not know quite where to start. We knew we needed to engage an outside partner to help us on our DEI journey. We evaluated several consulting partners and proposals to get our efforts off the ground. Our CEO, Chris Doyle, was very impressed with the KEIRUS BY KJE team, as they came highly recommended from another organization who partnered with KJE on their DEI effort.

Schedule With Us

The Transformation Begins

KJE conducted a culture assessment which helped us understand our employees' mindsets, beliefs, and attitudes around diversity and inclusion. KEIRUS helped us discuss the results of that assessment with our employees in a moderated town hall. Through this process, the KEIRUS team leveraged the insights we gained to build thoughtful strategic recommendations for our organization.

KEIRUS BY KJE also conducted the D&I training for all our employees and leaders. The training and education component has been a very important step to equip employees and leaders with the knowledge and tools to support a diverse and inclusive culture of belonging. We've provided two primary training programs to our entire management team. One is unconscious bias training, focused on fostering inclusivity and understanding. This interactive training focuses on why learning about unconscious bias is important, identifying our blind spots, and recognizing and mitigating bias. The second program we love is KEIRUS BY KJE's Power of We training that all employees have taken. The training focuses on the benefits of diversity, creating awareness, and appreciating others to embrace inclusion.

Outcomes

Our bank's goals and objectives have been to equip our employees and leaders with the knowledge and tools to support a diverse and inclusive culture of belonging. Our focus with our partnership with KEIRUS BY KJE has been to provide our leadership and employees with the training and education needed to build a more inclusive work environment. As an organization, we feel one of the best practices we have implemented is our partnership with an outside firm. KEIRUS BY KJE will help you build a DEI program that's appropriate for where your organization is today.
