Background

After the murder of George Floyd, our CEO realized we had to do more to ensure our company is diverse and inclusive for everyone. As one of the largest owner-operated private clubs in the world, this was a significant revelation for Invited, formerly ClubCorp, that changed our organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion trajectory.

One of the best things about our organization is that we are open to all viewpoints and want to receive feedback from our employees and our community. To act on our CEO's concerns, we began surveying our employee partners, and we knew we had to devise a strategy to help us move our DEI initiative forward. Through this process we realized we needed help to do this successfully. We reached out to KEIRUS BY KJE and began our partnership in April 2021.

Schedule With Us

The Transformation Begins

KEIRUS BY KJE conducted a small-scale culture assessment and leveraged those insights to develop our DEI strategy. They helped us launch our DEI Council, which has helped us broaden our diverse perspectives.

Invited and KEIRUS BY KJE both share the core value of respecting others. Since launching their signature learning programs, The Power of We and Beliefs, Blind Spots and Bias, we have trained 90% of our Club and Home Office Leaders. This training was our first step towards realizing our DEI initiatives at a greater level.

KEIRUS BY KJE also guides us in our approach to breaking down the color barriers within our industry. Our priority is to be more inclusive of others and reach a diverse community. They understand our desire for our DEI initiative to benefit our employees, our membership base, and those who use our club facilities. With the guidance of KEIRUS BY KJE, we wrote our first DEI Mission Statement and Strategy, which covers more than race and includes the entire spectrum of diversity. Our DEI Mission statement is built on four pillars: recruiting, community, training, and education.

Outcomes

KEIRUS BY KJE helped us change our culture, beginning with our leadership team. They have helped us to meet our DEI goals while continuing to educate our employees. Our recruiting initiative highlights our desire to increase the number of women and people of color, and other communities, such as the military, in our leadership programs. Through our work with KEIRUS BY KJE, our employee onboarding process is also becoming more streamlined, so our DEI initiatives are consistent throughout our organization.

Our work with KEIRUS BY KJE has helped us to improve our employee surveys and responses on our complaint hotline. This awareness has helped us to continue to provide a greater level of DEI education based on the needs and concerns of our employees. KEIRUS BY KJE has helped us prepare to ensure things are done correctly.

Through our partnership with KEIRUS BY KJE, we have learned the importance of pacing our DEI rollouts and thoughtfully introducing our DEI programs to ensure we are presenting the information in a sensitive and accurate manner because we desire longevity for our DEI vision and our employee retention.
